The Importance Of An Archery Stabilizer In Improving Your Game
Michalis 'BIG Mike' Kotzakolios

Cavemen hunted giant mammoths with spears. David downed Goliath with a slingshot. Indeed, sticks and strings can be utilized as potent and deadly weapons, and it was just a matter of time before man discovered the bow and arrow as an efficient tool for warfare. But such bow and arrow aren't only used for defense and conquest. Archery, in fact, is considered as one of the oldest sports in the world. The Greeks of the old world had archery as one of the centerpiece events during the first staging of the Olympics, when such an event was held as tribute to the gods instead of promoting camaraderie between nations.

Bows and arrows - an archer was left with these tools for the purpose of competition. Whether its traditional archery or the more ancient game of hunting, bows and arrows are timeless tools.

But technology progressed and ways to improve the archer's game have been invented. Nowadays, archers from all over the world have started to use dependable equipments that will improve their aim and boost their precision. One such equipment is the archery stabilizer.

An archery stabilizer is an add-on to your bow which will help you gain stability during your aim. This is done by improving your balance, which is quite difficult when you draw the string with an arrow, ready to fire. For formal competitions, an archery stabilizer is allowed in certain events, but is not prescribed for more traditional contests.

Archers also have to contend with recoil, which, if timed incorrectly, will terribly make them miss the target. A stabilizer solves this problem by reducing the force of the recoil, since it is designed to absorb the shock and vibration associated with drawing the string.

The true value of an archery stabilizer can be experienced by hunters. Enjoying the Great Outdoors is often incomplete without hunting for games, and quite a number of people would rather use the weapons of our forefathers rather than the usual gun. When hunting, the hunter has to observe subterfuge, least the target senses his approach and runs or flies away. This can be very hard, especially since the firing of an arrow will cause some noise, and the game may escape before the arrow hits it. A stabilizer will reduce the noise that the firing will make, hence ensuring that the game will never know what will hit it until the moment the arrow strikes its body.
